Identity

Well its back to school time, and in preperation for class I began looking up the topic of identity. This is one of the areas that my senior students must complete. I came accross this site and not only did it provide good ideas on identity projects, it provided many other ideas for art class, it is well worth a look. http://www.pbs.org/art21/education/studentartprojects/index.html#. Have any of you run a scheme of work on identity, if so please share.

http://www.vam.ac.uk/school_stdnts/schools/projects/image_identity/image_identity_0607/index.html This site also has some excellent photographs of students art work. I found a great piece for an identity project too.

I like the thumb prints/typography projects on this site. http://www.danieleatock.com/project/holley-portraits/ see the picture above.

  4. Awesome! I love the thumb-print one. I did a similar Word Portrait lesson with my middle school students. Any project that empowers students' sense of individuality and uniqueness is worth doing! Thanks for sharing.

  5. These are so cool! I do an identity project every year as the first project for the quarter. I haven't uploaded all the information on my blog yet as I just started in December, but soon! http://art-paper-scissors.blogspot.com

Some identity projects I have done:
    - Micrography Portraits, using words about themselves
    - Printing a portrait using styrofoam and displaying them on an "identity wall" or background
    - Warhol inspired portraits, framing them off with identity words
    - Surrealist hands, changing each finger/palm into identity objects
    - Identity mandalas
    - Silhouette collages with identity items

Those were some I thought of off the top of my head (you can see I really like identity projects.... haha)
